To Know Him Is to Love Him (Start With Worship Part 2)

Now this is eternal life:  that they know you, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
~John 17:3

Worship begins with knowing.  Know that God is who He is.  Nothing will ever alter who He is.  He does not change according to how you feel nor according to the measure of your devotion.  He does not change with the weather or the times.  He is steadfast, constant, eternally the same.

To know God is to know His character.  He is holy, sovereign, just.  He is Love.  He is Peace.  Everything that we are not, He embodies in perfect, everlasting completeness.  The knowing is where the spirit of worship is kindled within us. We see such stark contrast between our natural selves and His perfection we can only sit in awe and wonder that this God would condescend to show us compassion, much less hang on a tree to give us life.

Knowing focus our vision and gives us perspective. The world says, "Truth is relative.  Follow your heart.  Know yourself and you will gain contentment."

Jesus says, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  Follow me.  Know me, and be known by me and I will satisfy your longing soul."
